Calendar of Buddhist Special Practice Days: 2005

FOUR COMMEMORATIVE BUDDHA DAYS

The four special days associated with the life of Shakyamuni Buddha are celebrated for example by taking Mahayana One Day Precepts before dawn, and performing a Guru Puja and Tsog Offering, but any virtue may be practised. Any practice performed on these days is increased by vast amounts.

LAMAS' BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES

The three given here are celebrated with a Tsog Offering and sometimes other activities. There are many other special days in addition to these that could be celebrated if desired.

2005

REGULAR TSOG DAYS

Offer Tsog (collective food offering) on the 10th and 25th of each lunar month (ex Mensikang calendar).

REGULAR PRECEPT DAYS

Mahayana One Day Precepts may be taken any day but it is especially valuable to take them on the 8th, 15th and 30th of the lunar month (the half waxing, full and new moons respectively). These are here given according to the standard Tibetan calendar and may not always coincide with the moons phases in other parts of the world.
